Chile is among the world’s prime sources of great value delicious wine. With brilliant sunshine, minimal growing season rainfall, and mid-day heat moderated by Pacific breezes, the South American country’s winemakers enjoy access to beautifully balanced ripe-tasting grapes in virtually every vintage. In addition, Chilean vines grow primarily on their own roots, so it’s easier and less expensive to cultivate grapes there than in most other countries.
Several distinct regions within Chile provide ideal growing conditions for our most popular grape varieties. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir ripen best in cool climate coastal zones like Casablanca, San Antonio, Leyda and Itata. Malbec, Merlot and Carménère thrive in warmer zones like Cachapoal and Colchagua. And Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are ideally suited for the quite warm Maipo Valley.
