What is Sail250 Boston?

Sail250 is a once-in-a-generation maritime celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. As part of the festivities, Boston Harbor will welcome an international fleet of Tall Ships and military vessels, bringing crews, cadets, visitors, and locals together for one of the biggest waterfront events in New England.

And truly, there’s no better background for a maritime celebration than Boston.

For nearly a week, the harbor will become the center of the action with ship arrivals, public viewing opportunities, waterfront festivals, fireworks, and plenty of reasons to make a day of it.

Tall Ships Return to Boston HarborJuly 11, 2026 · 9:00 AMThe main event? A fleet of majestic Tall Ships sailing into Boston Harbor. Visitors can expect dramatic harbor views, historic vessels, and a waterfront packed with locals, tourists, families, and maritime fans.

Parade of SailJuly 11, 2026 · 9:00 AM – 4:00 PMSail250 Boston begins with the Parade of Sail, when participating ships make their entrance into Boston Harbor. It’s one of the most anticipated moments of the celebration and a prime reason to plan ahead.

Public Ship ViewingsStarting July 11, 2026Throughout the event, visitors will have the chance to see ships docked along the waterfront. Some vessels may offer public boarding opportunities, depending on final schedules and ship availability.

Pick Your Neighborhood FirstSeaport is ideal for waterfront energy. Long Wharf is great for classic harbor access. Park Square and Legal Crossing are strong downtown options when you want to stay close without being directly in the busiest harbor crowds.

Book Your Table EarlyWaterfront events and restaurant reservations go together. If you’re planning to dine near the harbor, reserve ahead (especially for lunch, dinner, and post-fireworks plans).

Give Yourself Extra TimeBoston is walkable, but Sail250 will bring heavy foot traffic around Seaport, Long Wharf, downtown, and the harbor. Build in extra time between ship viewing, transit, and dining.
